After 35 years at just about every level of leadership, I have enjoyed my fair share of failure and success. My background is heavily weighted in operations, hospitality, guest service, facilities, venue management and business development. You might ask how I could enjoy failure, and in the actual moment I didn’t. I simply had the wrong perspective. When you fail you grow as a leader, personal experience has taught me this valuable lesson. When you have success, it often leads to complacency, never a good state of mind for a leader. Success is rewarding as long as you keep it in perspective, and never lose the drive of consistently delivering excellence. The success of any organization is linked to its leadership, leaders establish standards, expectations, the culture and ultimately influence the workforce, for better or worse.
